The Camrose Police Service (CPS) and the Wetaskiwin RCMP teamed up to arrest two Edmonton residents suspected of stealing fuel in Camrose on April 10.

At about 8 a.m. on April 10, CPS officers were investigating a report of theft of fuel when they spotted a suspicious Ford F350.

As the officer turned to follow the vehicle, the driver immediately fled at fast speed.

Officers kept the vehicle int heir sight line and saw it stop along a tree line at Range Road 210 and Township road 472.

After containing the area, CPS asked the RCMP for assistance.

Wetaskiwin RCMP officers responded, along with RCMP Police Dog Services. Deploying a drone and police dog, the the two suspects were quickly located.

At the time of the incident, Emter had active warrants out for his arrest. After appearing for an interim release hearing, Emter was released with his next court date sent for May 18 in Edmonton.

The RCMP doesn’t release the names of suspects until the charges have been sworn in court. The female suspect is to appear on May 29, at the Camrose Court of Justice.

“This was a great example of two police forces working in tandem to support one another in fighting rural theft,” said Insp. John Corbett of the CPS.

“The RCMP is Alberta’s Police Force and we are here to assist all agencies in an effort to fight crime,” said RCMP Insp. John Spaans. “We are pleased to have assisted in the capture of theses two rural property crime offenders.”
