Amid forecasted increased temperatures, the County of Wetaskiwin has issued a fire advisory for the residents of the region.
The county said in a media release that the advisory is effective as of Thursday, April 11 at 1 p.m.
The release stated that increased wind gusts and declining relative humidity are contributing to increased fire hazards throughout the County as the snowpack dissipates.
Existing fire permits will need to be monitored and maintained, the release reads.
New fire permit requests will be issued as conditions allow.
All previously permitted sites are required to check and mitigate as necessary for holdover fires (ground fires).
The county has encouraged all residents to use caution with allowable recreational fires: camp, cooking, warming fires, burn barrels, or other acceptable appliances.
Residents are encouraged to learn and implement effective fire smart tips to reduce hazards within their property, acreage, or farm.
