Getting To Know... Inspector Lynds

Pipestone Flyer

Thankfully, we didn't have to make a citizen's arrest on Leduc's top cop, RCMP Inspector Wally Lynds, to get him to sit down for a few minutes, answer some questions, and let us get to know the man behind the badge!

Q: What is your favourite candy?

A: Charleston Chews! You know those long bars in the chocolate bar section? They don't seem to be that popular.

Q: Cat person or dog person?

A: Both. I really can't pick one or the other.

Q: What is your biggest fear?

A: Oh man! (Thinks for a moment) Probably losing the ability to live and do things the way I do now. Such as experiencing a disability, or even retirement.

Q: What was the last movie you watched?

A: The Avengers

Q: What is your dream vacation?

A: Going to the Marquesas to snorkel and swim for two months!

Q: Do you participate in a sport?

A: There are typically about fifteen things I do when I have the time.

Q: What is your favourite colour?

A: Brown.

Q: What is your favourite season and why?

A: Spring. I love the way everything "wakes up" after the winter. The new growth, that bright green of the new leaves and grass. No mosquitos! (Laughs)

Q: What is the favourite pair of shoes that you own?

A: I have a pair of plain brown loafers...I think they're Patagonia's. They fit with everything below a fancy suit. They're so comfortable, they're like a favourite pair of jeans or a second skin.

Q: If we were buying, what would you be having for dinner?

A: We would be going to the Salt Lick in Calgary or Banff, and having the best steak you've ever had!

Q: What is your favourite thing to do in Leduc?

A: Because we've moved around so much with my job, years ago my wife and I decided that we wanted to look for, and explore, the things that make our area unique. We like to search out the historical and special places in our community, and really get to know our area.

Q: Do you have a hobby or collect anything?

A: (big sigh) I have about 30 hobbies. I love to collect things, but I get very OCD about it. (Chuckles) I have to have it all or nothing, so I gave up collecting things. Photography is the one "hobby" that follows me everywhere. My camera is always attached to me at the hip. (Smiles)

Q: Who is your hero?

A: (smiles) As a child it was Tarzan, but right now...I don't have a specific "hero". Genuine people, people of integrity, I've tried to associate myself with them throughout my life.

Q: What is playing on your car stereo right now?

A: Right now it's on 96.3 Capital FM. But my daughter burnt two CD's for me of all my favourite songs from the last 30 years, so you can usually spot me rockin' out and screaming along at the top of my lungs as I drive around. (Laughs)

Q: What is the best dish that you make?

A: (laughs) I'm pretty good at KD! I can make it without look
