At 7:00 pm on October 23rd at Rollyview Community Hall, the Rollyview Community Association is hosting a Community Awareness Initiative that they highly encourage everyone to attend.
"There have been five bodies found in our area in the last six years." Said RCA Executive Michelle Kuny. "There are a lot of unanswered questions and concerned people living here, and this meeting should answer some of those questions and educate people as to some things they can do to keep our neighbourhoods safer."
The RCA has managed to bring in an impressive group of experts to speak at this meeting, including Cor and Maxine De Wit from the Leduc Rural Crime Watch Assoc., Constable Andrew McFarlane from the Leduc RCMP Detachment, and Sgt. John Respet and Constable Ray Shelton with KARE Operations Serious Crimes Division, amongst others.
Cor and Maxine will be speaking on the role that Rural Crime Watch plays in a community, how they interact and partner with the police, and the benefits of becoming a member. There will also be an opportunity to sign up and become a member of Rural Crime Watch at the meeting.
Constable McFarlane will discuss how his position works in partnership with Rural Crime Watch and Leduc County, as well as answering questions from the audience concerning the discovery of Amber Tuccaro.
Sgt. Respet and Constable Shelton from KARE Operations will be on hand to provide an overview of what Project KARE does, as well as providing further details on the discovery of Amber Tuccaro. However, as the investigation concerning Amber is still ongoing there will be limitations on the information that can be shared.
Leduc County's Director of Parks and Recreation, Dean Ohnysty, and area Councillor, Clay Stumph, will also be on hand to answer questions and speak on the County's commitment to this area.
"We really want to encourage everyone and anyone to come out to this meeting." Said Michelle. "There are still odd things happening in our community and we would like to see everyone become educated as to what they should be watching for, as well as what they can and should do in different situations. This concerns us all."
There is no charge to attend this meeting, and at the conclusion, after a short coffee and doughnut break, Michelle invites everyone to stay for the Rollyview Community Association's AGM.
