Mending Mikayla Unifying Community

Pipestone Flyer

The support for Mikayla Curran continues to grow in the community, and what is amazing is that most of the people raising money for her surgery have never even met her. After they had been told that they had raised enough money and done their part, a group of six girls, from Sacred Heart School in Wetaskiwin, pooled their various talents this past Saturday to see how much more they could raise for Mikayla. From 9am, Saturday Morning, to 2pm that afternoon the girls sold baking, lemonade and loom bracelets, raising $691.00.

Millet Skillet lent their support as well, donating all of the proceeds from cinnamon bun sales for Saturday, bringing the total amount to $751.00. “We are so proud of our girls,” says one of the moms, “They took it upon themselves to bring this together.”

Anika Abrahamson, Bethany Groenewold, Amy Beerwort, Brittany Beerwort, Lucy Galashan, Nicole Roy, Lizzy Buchanski and Kaitlyn Camp felt that they could still do more for Mikayla, who is the same age as the girls, and who identify with and feel a strong connection to.
