It’s not every day you see a moose in Central Alberta, let alone eight.

That was the case for Wetaskiwin resident Wayne Arnold, who spotted the collection of majestic creatures in a field as he was driving a school bus in the county.

“It’s not often you see eight moose in one field together, with four bulls,” Arnold told the Pipestone Flyer.

Arnold, 62, spotted the moose around 7:25 a.m. He didn’t want to disclose the exact location, citing security concerns for the herd and property owners in that area.

However, Arnold said that the school kids were excited, and they all enjoyed the scene.

“I stopped the bus for about five minutes with my door open so the kids could have a view,” Arnold detailed.

Arnold, who’s driving for Brightview Bus Lines added that they often see wildlife in the county.

“Never a day goes by that we don’t see something. One day, it’s lots of deer, coyotes, or porcupine walking on the road.”
