Extreme cold warning in effect for Wetaskiwin County and area

Areas of the County of Wetaskiwin including Wetaskiwin, Millet, and Highway 2 is under an extreme cold advisory by Environment Canada.

Temperatures for the evening of Feb. 22, 2022 are expected to drop to -40 with the wind chill. Conditions are set to improve on Wednesday.

“Extreme cold puts everyone at risk,” said Environment Canada in their extreme cold warning alert. “Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.”

In response to the extreme cold warning Mulhurst Bay Fire and Rescue Department said in a Facebook post, “please take necessary precautions to protect yourself and your animals! Hopefully this is the last one before spring.”
