In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the City of Wetaskiwin is taking immediate action following the direction of Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw.
Events:
Cancelling of mass gatherings. The City of Wetaskiwin is cancelling all events that have more than 250 attendees in City-operated facilities, parks, open spaces, and roads until further notice. The City will re-evaluate this decision on an ongoing basis, with direction from Alberta Health.
City-led events currently listed as cancelled include:
Spring Parade of Programs (March 16)
Public Facilities:
Cancelling any large group event or program (over 250 people) planned at any public City of Wetaskiwin facility.
Library:
The City is working closely with the Wetaskiwin Library Board to ensure that City and Wetaskiwin Public Library decisions are aligned.
Transit:
Wetaskiwin Transit continues to function and provide service at this time, with the buses being cleaned more often.
Cleaning:
The City has increased the frequency and intensity of cleaning in all City facilities.
The City of Wetaskiwin is updating its COVID-19 web page (www.wetaskiwin.ca/covid19) with advice and information on how community members can protect themselves and determine if any private events or activities should be cancelled.
