The Wetaskiwin Health Foundation has the heart in mind for their newest campaign. The campaign will focus on heart health and ensuring the Wetaskiwin Hospital has high quality heart monitoring equipment.

More than 1 in 10 hospitalizations in Canada are due to heart conditions, stroke, or vascular cognitive impairment and the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation states that the prevalence of cardiac events is what made them want to get to the ‘heart’ of the matter.

In 2022 the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre will be undergoing significant renovations and the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation has pledged to provide $190,000 from their $1.7 million campaign budget to cardiac monitoring equipment.

This equipment will provide a versatile and non-invasive method for diagnosis and monitoring a wide array of patient conditions.

The foundation has also pledged to provide $60,000 in equipment enhancements for the hospital’s Special Care Unit. This unit specializes in caring for those who have experienced or are actively experiencing a cardiac event, those who have an abnormal heart rhythms requiring closer monitoring, those experiencing heart failure, or those who have a severe heart problem.

Having state-of-the-art bedside and central cardiac monitoring equipment will allow the Wetaskiwin Hospital’s medical team to detect life-threatening conditions and provide early intervention treatment.

The current campaign is ongoing and donations can be made to www.wetaskiwinhealthfoundation.com/current-campaign.
