Wetaskiwin RCMP traffic stop leads to weapons and drug seizure and two arrests

Two have been arrested and charged with several offences.

On Aug. 26, 2021 at approximately 3:30 a.m., a Wetaskiwin RCMP was conducting patrols in an industrial area when a suspicious vehicle was observed

The officer conducted a traffic stop after noticing that the licence plate did not match the vehicle. During the subsequent investigation the driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested and during a search of the vehicle the officer located several weapons, drugs and break-in tools.

Nathan Gabriel Adams, 36, of Wetaskiwin, Alta., and Kristen Ashley Rain, 35, of Breton, Alta., have been charged with several offences including:

• Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine);

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x3;

• Possession of break-in instruments;

• Possession of a prohibited weapon while unauthorized x2.

After a judicial interim hearing, Adams was released with conditions to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Sept. 9, 2021. Rain was remanded to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Aug. 27, 2021.

Wetaskiwin RCMP encourage the public to report any criminal or suspicious activity. The RCMP say that reports tell them where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future.
