Some Wetaskiwin residents took part in a community clean-up on Friday, April 26.

The initiative was organized by a Wetaskiwin-based non-profit Carapace.

As per a Facebook post by the non-profit, a total of 18 people joined the initiative and cleaned up some areas in the southern part of the city, as well as areas on the city’s main street.

“We are proud to announce that we found zero plastic straws, zero plastic cutlery, and only a couple of plastic bags,” the post reads.

The program was supported by another Wetaskiwin-based charity, called Horizons.

“We spanned all ages and abilities and we had accomplished a great deal in a short amount of time. We met some new faces — both to the community and to this event.”

Residents filled about 41 bags of garbage during the three-hour event.
