Is your organization planning an event or project that will benefit the Wetaskiwin community?
Grant-in-aid funding from the City of Wetaskiwin may be available to help.
“Local organizations in need of funding for projects that will enrich the community are encouraged to see if they qualify for the city’s Grant-in-Aid funding,” stated Karin Boddy, Legislative Executive Assistant for the City of Wetaskiwin.
However, the deadline is approaching: Applications for the 2023 Grant-in-Aid funding program must be received by Oct. 5, 2022.
Two grant streams are available: Up to $500, or above $500.
Groups or organizations requesting grants more than $500 must register with Boddy to present their applications to Wetaskiwin city council at the Oct. 24 Committee of the Whole meeting, which begins at 9 a.m.
Is your project or event eligible?
- Eligible organizations are based within the City of Wetaskiwin and in good standing with the city. An organization may receive aid for a maximum of three consecutive years unless council approves an exception, and preference will be given to organizations that have not previously received aid.
- The city will consider requests for support of projects in the areas of: Arts and Culture; Heritage; Recreation; Environment; and Community Pride.
- Things not available for grant funding include: work completed or materials obtained before the grant was approved; salaries; projects, or operational responsibilities other organizations or levels of government have a legislated responsibility for; organizations currently receiving a City of Wetaskiwin property tax exemption; organizations with a special funding agreement approved by council; or any organization where the primary goal of the event is fundraising.
- Aid may be used for capital expenses, operational expenses, and operational and capital needs for in-kind aid – for example, where the cost of providing grant aid would greatly exceed the city-cost of providing in-kind aid, and would benefit the organization in the same way.
- Applications will be evaluated based on the completeness of the application, the type and amount of aid requested, if the project furthers the goals of the City of Wetaskiwin’s Strategic Plan and if it falls into one of the five covered areas, and how much of the organization’s own funds are being contributed to the project.
- A written report, including a financial statement, must be submitted within 90 days of Project completion to be eligible for future funding.
