Wetaskiwin Votes: Polls officially closed across the province for municipal elections

Who will be elected to represent on Wetaskiwin County and City of Wetaskiwin councils?

The polls are now open across the province for municipal elections.

In the County of Wetaskiwin, Division 1- Bill Krahn, Division 3- Dale Woitt, Division 4-Josh Bishop, and Division 5-Ken Adair, have been appointed by acclamation.

Voting is open for Divisions 2, 6, and 7.

Division 2 candidates are:

• Lynn Marie Carwell;

• And Terry Van de Kraats.

Division 6 candidates are:

• Ron Baumann;

• Rodney Heeney;

• And Kathy Rooyakkers.

Division 7 candidates are:

• Chad Baumann;

• And Lyle Seely.

Election for the local school board will be held in conjunction with the municipal election. County residents voting in Ward 1 and 2 for the Wetaskiwin Regional Public School election can vote at their designated polling station.

The County of Wetaskiwin will also be conducting the Senate Election and Referendum vote on behalf of Elections Alberta on October 18. Residents will be able to vote at their designated polling station, if your division was appointed by acclamation, you can vote for the Senate and Referendum election at any polling station within the County of Wetaskiwin. Voting is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

o Millet Agriplex (5290 - 45 Avenue, Millet)

o Falun Community Hall (272019 HWY 13)

o Battle Lake Church (15038 TWP RD 462)

o Winfield Agriplex (401 6 Street E, Winfield)

o Yeoford Community Hall (465076 RGE RD 31)

o Buck Lake Community Hall (801 Lakeshore Drive, Buck Lake)

o Alder Flats Legion (2 - 2nd Avenue, Alder Flats)

The City of Wetaskiwin’s municipal election will determine the mayor and six city councillors.

Running for Mayor of the City of Wetaskiwin is:

• Joe Branco (incumbent city councillor);

• Tyler Gandam (incumbent city mayor);

• Craig Haavaldsen;

• And Jenn Moriartey.

Polling stations for the City of Wetaskiwin are located at the Memorial Arts Centre (5206 50 Street) and at the Drill Hall (4519 50 Ave). Voting is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
