Thorsby / Breton RCMP Detachment would like to remind everyone that vehicle break in's and thefts are occurring regularly in both Thorsby and Warburg. These occurrences have been mostly occurring over the weekends. Here are some reminders to help prevent vehicle break in's and thefts:

1)- Lock all of your vehicle doors. If you simply push the lock button on your key fob, physically try to open your doors afterwards to ensure they are locked.

2)- Take any items of value into the house or at the very least keep them out of sight.

3)- If you have a garage, park your vehicle inside (and still ensure your doors are locked).

4)- If you own a dog that stays outside park your vehicle close to your yard – the barking can help scare away the culprits or wake someone up who can see the culprits.

5)- If you notice any suspicious activity or any suspicious persons walking around late at night please call 780-789-3950 (24 hour complaint line) right away.

Property related crimes are a big issue in the rural areas. Keep in mind the city of Edmonton is only but an hour away, a lot of criminals from the city travel through the rural areas to commit these crimes. Taking some extra precautions to protect your property is never a bad idea.
