Butter buds are tasty idea for the kitchen

Two recipes that date back to the Thirties

Both of these recipes I got from my grandmother and I believe they were popular during the Great Depression years.

Butter buds

2 C. flour

1/2 C. butter

1 C. brown sugar

2 eggs

1 TSP. B. powder

1 TSP. almond extract

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs.

Add flour, baking powder and almond extract. Bake at 325 F. For 15 mins. Or until lightly browned.

Pudding powder cookies

3/4 C. shortening

1 Pkg. butterscotch instant pudding (or any other flavor)

2 Tbsp. Br. sugar

2 Tbsp. Wh. sugar

1 egg

1 1/2 C. flour

1/2 Tsp. salt

1/4 Tsp. B. soda

1/4 Tsp. B. powder

1 Tsp. vanilla

1 1/2 C. rolled oats

Roll into small balls and press with fork. Bake at 375 F. For 12 mins.
