The Prime Minister recently announced that Mr. Blaine Calkins, MP for Wetaskiwin will be assigned the role of chair for Alberta Caucus.
“ I am very pleased to be given this responsibility and hope to fill the shoes of those who have served before me,” said Mr. Calkins. “ I believe strongly in the advancement of Alberta and plan to work together with my federal and provincial colleagues for the betterment of Alberta”.
Mr. Calkins was chosen as chair after Mr. Rick Casson chose not to run in the 2011 Federal Election. This is the first chair appointment for Mr. Calkins, who sat on the Government Operations and Estimates committee, the Fisheries and Oceans committee and the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development over the course of the 40th Parliament.
