With the assistance of the Bashaw and Wetaskiwin RCMP, the Camrose Police Service (CPS) arrested two suspects earlier this month on a slew of charges including possession of stolen property, criminal hit and run and possession of a controlled substance.

On May 18, at 3:30 p.m. while on general patrol, a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado came to the attention of police. Police checks on the vehicle determined the truck to be stolen out of Leduc.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the truck, however the vehicle fled from police driving dangerously through Camrose at high rates of speeds.

Further complaints were received from motorists in Camrose County, leading to the recovery of the vehicle near Ferintosh, Alta.

With the assistance of the members from the Bashaw and Wetaskiwin RCMP detachments, including the RCMP Canine Unit, police were able to locate and arrest 25-year-old Guy Roasting from Pigeon Lake, Alta.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Corey Westfall, 47, who was a passenger in the stolen vehicle.

Westfall was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on a release order to appear in Camrose Provincial Court.

Roasting was charged with criminal flight from peace officer, criminal hit and run, possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and four provincial driving offences. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace, but did not speak to bail and remains in custody.

During the events in the Duggan Mall parking lot a black SUV was struck by the accused.

CPS has the description of the involved vehicle and is encourage the owner of the SUV to come into the station if they were in the parking lot during the time of the event and have damage to their vehicle.
