It’s time to prepare the golf clubs; the annual Wetaskiwin Health Foundation (WHF) Charity Golf Tournament is just around the corner.
On Friday, Sept. 15, health care providers and community members alike will meet at Montgomery Glen Golf and Country Club for some fundraising fun.
This is the 20th year the WHF is holding the charity event.
Along with the money raised from sponsors, $50 of each participant’s registration payment goes directly to this year’s fundraising efforts.
“It’s assuring quality health care close to home for generations to come. Specifically on this golf tournament, we’re raising money for the automated CPR machine for the emergency department,” said WHF executive director John Strong.
The event begins with breakfast at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 a.m., followed by dinner and a program once the tournament has concluded.
“We’re expecting about 70 (people), but we would love a few more if people still want to join us for a good cause. We have health care workers coming out that day as well, so they’re supporting us, and we’d love to see the community come and join us as well,” said Strong.
The registration deadline for the tournament is Sept. 11.

The WHF was first established on April 17, 1986. Since that date, the foundation has continued work to help the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, including through the addition of a CT scanner in 2015.
In total, the organization has raised $11 million to aid health care in the community, according to its website.
