The realignment of Highway 2A near Leduc began on July 20 and is expected to continue through October.

North and south traffic on Highway 2A will be maintained throughout construction, however, there will be two road closures in order to accommodate the project:

There will be no access to the south entrance of Southfork Drive and Range Road 251 will be closed at the City of Leduc boundary.

Kyle Van Steenoven, manager of capital projects and development for the City of Leduc stated the project will allow a second entrance to the Southfork subdivision to meet the needs of the community and Father Leduc School slated to open its doors in September 2016.

The realignment of the intersection will also provide the distance required from the railway to allow for the future construction of the South Boundary Road to the east.
