This one is good for Halloween or for kids’ birthday parties.
This is an old recipe that I think dates back to the war years, but is still good.
Boiled Raisin Cake
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. Shortening
1 c. Water
1 c. Raisins
1 1/2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
3/4 tsp. Soda
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp.
1/4 tsp. Allspice
Boil raisins in water. Cool. Combine all and bake at 350 F., until toothpick comes out clean. Approx. 1 hr.
Dirt Dessert
1 planter
Plastic flowers
1 spade
Waxed paper
Candy rocks
Gummi worms
2 – 1 lb. Pkg. Oreo cookies
½ stick margarine
8 oz. Cream cheese
1 c. icing sugar
3 ½ c. Milk
2 small pkg. instant pudding
12 oz. Cool whip
Mix marg., cream cheese, and sugar. In separate bowl mix milk, pudding, and cool whip.
Combine.
Crush cookies with cream left in the middle.
Line bottom of planter with wax paper. A layers of Oreos and creamed mixture.
Garnish with worms and candy rocks and serve with the spade. Gummy worms can be mixed in with some of the layers .
