Leduc RCMP arrest male for multiple break and enters and theft

Leduc RCMP have identified and arrested one male after receiving a complaint on Nov. 3, 2020 about several break and enters at Patterson UTI Drilling and Ja-Co Welding in Nisku, Alta. The break and enters took place between Oct. 27, 2020 and Nov. 3, 2020.

Through their investigation Leduc RCMP determined the U-Haul used in the break and enters was stolen along with over 5,000 lbs of copper wire. Video surveillance showed several vehicles coming and going on more than one occasion.

Leduc RCMP located and arrested Michael Gilchrist, 34, of Devon on Jan. 7, 2021 for the thefts.

Gilchrist was charged with the following offences:

• Break and enters x3;

• Mischief under $5000;

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;

• Theft over $5000;

• Identity Fraud;

• Drive while unauthorized x3.

Gilchrist has been held in custody since his arrest and will appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial court on Jan. 19, 2021. The Leduc RCMP is continuing their investigation on this case.
