Curlers are definitely crazy! 20 degrees outside on Saturday, April 2 and the Millet Curling Club members are inside the curling club holding their final wind-up sturling and potluck supper of the year. I guess to be fair, when the wind-up was planned we didn’t know what the temperature outside would be.
The curlers met at 2 p.m., drew names from a hat and proceeded with some fun sturling using hats from the tickle trunk owned by Deb Herman. Then, a wonderful potluck was enjoyed by all. After that, a turkey shoot – using real turkeys. Then human curling….how much more fun could a final wind up be?
The Millet Curling Club had a wonderful year. A few problems with the plant that was monitored and maintained by our volunteer icemaker Stan Major. Overall, the ice was really keen and appreciated by all members. We even hosted some Sturling fundraisers and had participants from Tofield, Hay Lakes, Wetaskiwin, Edmonton and Leduc.
We are looking forward to a wonderful 2016-2017 season and would welcome any and all new members – even if you haven’t curled before. We are basically a non-competitive league although we do have some grudge matches.
