This recipe is for my son from another Mother and Father. He is Cherokee so I think it is fitting. Enjoy!
A tasty soup with flavour in every spoonful.
Cherokee Pepper Pot Soup
1 beef shank with some meat
3 quarts water
1/2 c. Celery
1 grated carrot
2 c. Okra
1 tbsp. Salt
2 c. Diced potatoes
1 tbsp. Butter
3 chopped onions
2 chopped green peppers
1 c. kernel corn
2 c. chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp. Chili sauce
3 tbsp. flour
Cook beef in water until tender. Add all other ingredients except flour. Simmer until vegetables are tender. Mix flour in a little water and add.
