1941-2020 ~ Bonnie passed away peacefully, on October 17, 2020 on her farm near Wetaskiwin with her family at her side after a long battle with cancer. Born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Bonnie graduated from Alberta College in 1962 with a diploma in the Secretarial Program. She was also crowned Miss Alberta College Queen that year.
Bonnie was an avid gardener and loved all things feathered and furred. She took immense pride in her property, where she and her family hand planted thousands of trees, bushes, flowers and many vegetable gardens over the years.
Bonnie was employed with the Wetaskiwin Composite High School for 26 years. Friends and coworkers will remember her for her sense of humour and her immense love and loyalty to many of her friends there.
After retirement, she volunteered with Wetaskiwin County F.C.S.S., The Wetaskiwin Senior Centre, Horizon's Centre and the Salvation Army.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Cameron James; daughter, Kathi (Richard); grandson, Cameron Grant (Destiny); granddaughter, Matilda Lund; brothers, Derek (Alice) and Randy. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Mary Hoyle.
As per Bonnie's wishes, and due to covid restrictions, there will be no funeral service held. Cremation has taken place and her final resting place will be at the family farm. There may be a future announcement for a small gathering and remembrance for Bonnie, as per her wishes.
In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider making a donation to Alberta S.P.C.A., (17904-118 Ave. Edmonton, Alberta. T5S 2W3) or albertaspca.org, as this organization was close to Bonnie's heart always.
