In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Maciborski, 84, of Warburg, Alberta. Carl passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, surrounded by family at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
Carl is predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Annie Maciborski (nee Feniak), many of his 17 siblings, and other extended family members.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Maryan Maciborski; his children, Cara Lafreniere (Kelly), Merlene Maciborski, Judy Gilchrist (Todd), and Colin Maciborski (Dianne); his sister, Jenny Sluchinski, and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Carl was a career cattle rancher, classic car enthusiast, and outdoorsman. He and Maryan raised purebred Charolais cattle for more than 50 years, building one of Canada's premier breeding bloodlines.
His love of cars and equipment initially spawned during his early career in sales, and proved a passion throughout his life and he could often be found restoring tractors or showing his classics in local car shows and parades.
A hunter in his earlier years, he maintained his love for the outdoors and took joy in spending time with family and friends camping, fishing, and working on the farm.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Warburg Ambulance Service and the medical staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton for their care and support during his final days.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Alder Flats Legion, with interment taking place at the Alder Flats Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada (2300 Yonge St., Suite 1200, Box 2414, Toronto, Ontario, M4P 1E4) or to Diabetes Canada (1300-522 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M5G 2R5).
