Hilda Irene Dewald was born November 23, 1928, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. She entered her eternal rest on Thanksgiving Day, Monday, October 9, 2023, at the age of 94. She was married to John Dewald on October 29, 1946. She is survived by her son, Gerald Dewald (Lee) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; daughter, Patti Balback (Larry) of Surrey, B.C.; seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John; son, Troy; daughter, Leanne; sisters, Myrtle and Doris.
She worked at Montgomery's Department Store for 25 years. She was actively involved with the Women of the Moose, her church, and was well known for playing the piano and organ for her church and community choirs.
A Service of Remembrance was held on Tuesday, October 17 and she was interred at Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery. Special thanks to Baker Funeral Chapel for arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta & NWT.
