May 21, 1961 - December 12, 2018
James (Jim) Wenzel, 57, of Falun, formerly of Brooks, Alberta passed away, Wednesday, December 12th, 2018 at his home.

Jim was born May 21, 1961 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Elmer and Olive Wenzel. On August 2, 1980 he married the love of his life, Gayle Wenzel (Cooper). Jim and Gayle resided in Brooks where they raised their 2 children. In 2009 they built a home and moved to an acreage in Falun, AB. An avid movie, music, and sports lover, Jim's real passion was his family. An incredible family man, Jim dedicated most of his time to them. He enjoyed driving and taught many kids in the family, but most recently spent a lot of precious time teaching his granddaughter. Jim had a passion for hockey, and after spending many years watching and cheering on his son he was excited to be now doing the same with his grandsons. Jim spent time with his children and grandchildren whenever he could. Jim sought to instill in his children a commitment to family and friends. We were blessed and honoured to have been loved by him.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Gayle; his children, Kristi (Jason) Blouin of Falun, AB, Sheldon (Reiko) Wenzel of Brooks, AB; 5 grandchildren, Keogan, Blaze, Sawyer, Kace, and Bexton; sisters, Judy (Jim) Russell of Calgary, AB, and Carol (Dale) Zack of Indio, CA; brother, Larry (Carla) Wenzel of Calgary; sister-in-law, Lori Wenzel from Brooks, AB; brother in law, Wayne (Pam) Cooper of KY; father in law, Alf Cooper of Wetaskiwin, AB; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Olive; mother in law, Barbara Cooper; infant brother, Kenneth; sister, Shirley Wenzel; brother, Gordon Wenzel.

All of these he loved and cherished deeply.

There will be a family service and then a celebration of life for friends and family at the Falun Hall near Pigeon Lake on Wednesday, December 19th at 1:00pm.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Stollery Children's Hospital or Alberta Diabetes Foundation.
