In loving memory ~
James Jr. Durstling, affectionately known as Sonny by his family, passed away on January 1, 2024 in Drayton Valley. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was a man who had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. James also dedicated many years of his life to guiding others in these pursuits. Throughout his lifetime, James explored various career paths, showcasing his versatility and adaptability. He worked as an operator, car salesman but his real gift was landscaping.
However, James true joy came from spending quality time with his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He cherished every moment shared with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by his family for generations to come. James also loved spending time at the Drayton valley seniors centre playing pool, cards or just visiting with dear friends.
James memory will be cherished and remembered by his children, Cindy van Someran (Dave), Lori Glimm (Pat), Jon Durstling (Tammy); step-son Peter Foster; companion Norma Scott; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Audrey, Sylvia, Marlace, Don, Del, and Judy. James was predeceased by his parents, Rachel and James Durstling.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Drayton Valley Hospital and care centre for their compassionate care during James stay, as well as his family and friends for their unwavering support.
In keeping with with James wishes, there will be a celebration of his life will take place in the summer.
