Martha Reeves (Ruskowsky, née Schultz)

Martha Reeves (Ruskowsky; née Schultz) passed away peacefully to go be with her Lord on February 23, 2024, in Ponoka, Alberta, at the age of 96 years. She was born in Poland on January 21, 1928, and immigrated to Alberta with her family at 8 months old.

Martha was a loving mother to her children, Arleene Fennig, Wilfred (Terry) Ruskowsky, Lorne (Verna) Ruskowsky, Gordon (Melody) Ruskowsky, Ronald (Debbie) Ruskowsky.

Martha was lovingly called Nanny by her grandchildren, Kurt (Shelley) Fennig, Kelly Fennig, Natasha Ruskowsky, Lisa (Ralph) Coe, Gena (Zennon) Wozimirsky, Carla Ruskowsky, Sheryl (Blair) Stone, Laura (Blake) Kuharski, Ian (Tasha) Ruskowsky, Jessica (Thomas) Simpson, Jennifer (Brandon) Ruskowsky, Steven Ruskowsky and Justin (Jess) Ruskowsky, and cherished her time with her 18 great-grandchildren, and is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Hay; brother-in-law, Sam Reeves, and sister-in-law, Velma Cheasley as well as step-daughter, Caroline (Graham) Boyle and her three sons, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Augusta Schultz; husbands, Arthur Ruskowsky (1976) and Wilbert Reeves (2019); grandson, Michael Ruskowsky and son-in-law, Glen Fennig, as well as her siblings, Rudy (Hilda), Lydia (Ray), Gertrude (Al), Walter (Hilda), Herbert and two infant siblings.

She will be lovingly remembered for her strength and dedication. In her early years, you would find her either in the barn, garden, kitchen or church whipping everything into shape. Martha loved showing off her flowers, garden, puzzles and paintings, watching her bird friends and taking her afternoon naps.

She will forever be cherished for her quiet humming while she worked, graceful singing at church, loud apologetic cheering in the sport stands, tight squeezes and wet smooches. She never missed sending a Christmas card or forgot a birthday.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1st, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church (4218 56 Avenue) in Wetaskiwin.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of choice, Martha loved to give to many charities.
