In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness, yet a deep sense of gratitude, that we share our precious uncle, cousin, and friend Paul Henry Whiteside transitioned to his heavenly home on April 26, 2023, peacefully.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Willam and Elizabeth, his brothers Doug (Lavon), Walter - his twin brother, and Cyril (Menke-Anne).
Paul is lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Cynthia (Tom) McGrath of Elk River, MN, niece Lanny (Greg) DeRoeck of Parker, CO, niece Jennifer (Scott) Gwinn of Rison, AR, nephew Robert of Denver, CO, and nephew Kevin (Freda) of Kelowna, BC as well as several cousins.
Paul was born in Innisfail on May 10, 1937, he was a twin brother to Walter. Many of his stories would take you to the place where he grew up, on a farm with his brothers. He loved riding the horses with his brothers to school and into town. His brother Cy was like a bodyguard to him, if anyone mistreated his horse or Paul, they would need to answer Cy.
Paul lived nothing short of an adventurous life. Because of the many places he worked at he was able to travel to many countries of the world. He loved to travel and gained a passion for the beautiful places he was able to visit.
When Paul was 42 years old, he surrendered his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It did not make him perfect, but he knew he would never be alone and had found a peace he never knew before.
Golf became another passion for Paul, often found on the links at Montgomery Glens in Wetaskiwin, this is where many long-term friends were made, people that cared for him and made sure he was ok.
If you could not find Paul golfing, you would find him at Wayside Inn for breakfast or Huckleberry's restaurant having lunch or supper. Always leaving with a smile and his famous "Cheerio" as he would say goodbye.
A Celebration of life service will take place on Saturday May 13, 2023 at Ebenezer Baptist Church Wetaskiwin AB, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a light luncheon and coffee.
